Statements After An Arrest Under The Immorality Act

Overview

Athol Fugard’s Athol Fugard’s Statements After An Arrest Under The Immorality Act starring Marlo Minnaar and Liezl De Kock played in The Studio Theatre and opened on the 17th of September 2019 after a successful run at the KKNK in March. Statements After An Arrest Under The Immorality Act, a co-production with the KKNK, centres around two lovers, a coloured man, and a white woman, who meet in the library where she works. Sitting naked in the dark, their love is threatened not only by the fear of being discovered but also by the tensions between them. Everything falls apart when a neighbour reports them to the police, and they are arrested under the universally pilloried Immorality Act.
