In 2011, Dame Janet Suzman was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II and made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. To celebrate this accolade, the Fugard Theatre presented a week of retrospective Suzman films in August and September in its Bioscope.
The screened films included: Nicholas and Alexandra, The Draughtsman’s Contract, A Dry White Season, Nuns on the Run, Priest of Love and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. Also screened was the production of Othello with John Kani and Joanna Weinberg.
