The Cape Consort returned to the Fugard Theatre to continue its Monteverdi Project. Presented in the same spirit as its highly popular precursors, the group’s new programme is entitled Anticipating the Apocalypse. Performances took place on three consecutive Sunday evenings, 13, 20, and 27 October 2013, at 18h00 in the exquisite Sigrid Rausing Studio of the Fugard Theatre.
A selection of works by Monteverdi and contemporary composers Gesualdo, Dowland, Gibbons, Schütz, and Steffens is again bound together by an imaginary plot, outlined by short narrations, this time set during the last 24 hours before an imminent apocalypse.
