Olivier Award-Winning Kat and The Kings set for the Fugard Theatre.

 

More than a decade after its double Olivier award-winning run in London’s West End and on New York’s Broadway - Eric Abraham and The Fugard proudly present a new production of David Kramer and Taliep Petersen’s hit musical KAT & THE KINGS at the Fugard Theatre this May.

 

This high energy, smash hit musical will be performed for the very first time in the heart of District 6 with a combination of award-winning soloists and a dazzling new young cast from Cape Town.

 

Il Trittico

This is The Royal Opera’s first complete presentation of Puccini’s Il trittico since 1965. Leading director Richard Jones staged his witty, darkly comic realization of Gianni Schicchi for The Royal Opera in 2007, and here he completes the trio. Royal Opera Music Director Antonio Pappano will conduct. Il trittico (‘the triptych’), unveiled at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, in 1918, represented an operatic departure.

 

 

Don Quixote

From the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow, Prima Ballerina Natalia Osipova stars opposite Ivan Vasiliev in Don Quixote from the Bolshoi Ballet. The Arts Desk calls their performance “dancers at their absolute peak that notches a bit of history in your memory” – don’t let this moment in dance pass you by!

The Cape Consort - Monteverdi Project at the Fugard Studio - 12, 19, 26 February.

 

The Cape Consort  is proud to announce the launch of its Monteverdi Project  with 3 consecutive Sunday evening concerts at the beautiful Fugard Studio on 12, 19, 26 February.

 

The Matrix of the Madrigal  takes the listener on a fascinating exploration of Monteverdi's madrigals unveiling an innovative use of animated text projections. Supported by synchronized translations, the Cape Consort‘s  beautifully blending voices accompanied by period instruments in the rewarding Fugard Studio’s acoustics will contribute towards an extraordinarly unified sensory experience.
