Renaissance poetry treats the topic of love as a fully consuming, deeply unsettling, initiatory experience, inevitably leaving one or both parties fatally wounded. Constant references to the armed god of love are matched by images of piercing eyes, lethal glances, cruel beauty and torn hearts.
The Fugard Theatre Bioscope, in association with The Royal Opera House, The Royal Ballet and the Bolshoi Ballet Companies continue their popular World Opera and Ballet Season on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 21 January until 27 May 2012 at the beautiful Fugard Theatre.
